Sister taxon: Tusciziphius crispus

Type specimen: SGHN MA0926, a partial skull (rostrum, facial area, and vertex). Its type locality is Cortada fishing ground, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian offshore shelf phosphorite in Spain.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore-carnivore

Distribution:

• Pliocene of United States (1: South Carolina collection)

• Miocene to Pliocene of Portugal (1), Spain (1)

• Miocene of Spain (2)
