Type specimens:

  • Wantzosaurus elongatus: MNHN MAE3030, a partial skull (Mould of the skull roof with parts of the occiput, mandibles and palate). Its type locality is Madiromiary, which is in an Induan/Smithian deltaic siliciclastic in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar.
  • Ifasaurus elongatus: MNHN 3034, a partial skull (Skull fragment). Its type locality is Anjavimilai, which is in an Induan/Smithian deltaic siliciclastic in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar.

Ecology: amphibious carnivore

Distribution:

• Triassic of Madagascar (3 collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
