Sister taxa: Benthosuchus bashkiricus, Benthosuchus gusevae, Benthosuchus korobkovi, Benthosuchus lukyanovi, Benthosuchus sushkini, Benthosuchus uralensis
Type specimen: PIN 3783/1, a skull. Its type locality is Unzha River Basin, which is in an Olenekian terrestrial horizon in the Rybinsk Formation of the Russian Federation.
Ecology: amphibious carnivore
Distribution: found only at Unzha River Basin
