Type specimen: USNM 549362a, a shell. Its type locality is NW1/4 Section 12 in Henry County, which is in a Selandian carbonate limestone/siltstone in the Clayton Formation of Alabama.

Distribution: found only at NW1/4 Section 12 in Henry County
