Type specimens:

  • Brachyprosopus broomi: FMNH UC 1561, a skull. Its type locality is Hottentotsrivier Farm, which is in a Capitanian floodplain sandstone/claystone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
  • Chelydontops altidentalis: SAM-PK-11558, a partial skeleton ( partial skull and mandible, including a damaged snout and anterior portion of the palate, the skull roof, basicranium, and occiput, a portion of the left mandi). Its type locality is De Cypher farm, which is in a Capitanian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
