Sister taxon: Plectothyrella crassicosta

Type specimen: CEGH-UNC 24464b, a valve (internal mould of dorsal valve). Its type locality is San Fernando Quarry, which is in a Hirnantian shallow subtidal sandstone/siltstone in the Eusebio Ayala Formation of Paraguay.
