Type specimen: MOZ 5803 PV, a partial skeleton (Skull and postrcranial fragments). Its type locality is Chacaico Sur-Charahuilla (icthyosaur locality), which is in a Bajocian marine horizon in Argentina.
Ecology: nektonic carnivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Stenopterygius cayi in the database
