Sister taxa: Vespa bilineata, Vespa binghami, Vespa cordifera, Vespa crabroniformis, Vespa mandarinia, Vespa nigra, Vespa picea
Type specimen: Shandong Geological Museum K0371, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County, collection K0 (Shandong Geological Museum), which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Shanwang, Linqu County, collection K0 (Shandong Geological Museum)
