Sister taxon: Orthothyris pectinoides
Type specimen: USNM 108687. Its type locality is 1 mile W of San Antonio, which is in a Cretaceous marine horizon in Cuba.
Ecology: stationary low-level epifaunal suspension feeder
Distribution: found only at 1 mile W of San Antonio
