Sister taxa: Coona gaudryi, Coona gutierrezi

Type specimen: AMNH 28907, a mandible (left lower jaw with alveoli of P4-M2, whole crown of M3, and M4 with trigonid broken). Its type locality is Cañadon Hondo, Bird Clay locality, which is in a Casamayoran lacustrine claystone/tuff in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: scansorial omnivore

Distribution: found only at Cañadon Hondo, Bird Clay locality
