Sister taxon: Hipposaurus boonstrai
Type specimen: SAM-PK-12252, a partial skull. Its type locality is Rietfontein, which is in a Capitanian dry floodplain mudstone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Rietfontein
