Sister taxa: none

Type specimen: MCNAM-PV 4004, a skull ("nearly complete skull, with most of the jugal dental series, Mt III, and proximal fragment of Mt IV of an old individual."). Its type locality is Quebrada Fiera (north side of the ravine), which is in a Deseadan terrestrial tuff in the Agua de la Piedra Formation of Argentina.
