Sister taxa: Acaremys messor, Acaremys minutissimus, Acaremys murinus, Acaremys preminutus, Acaremys scagliai, Acaremys tricarinatus

Type specimen: YPM PU 15366, a skull (badly preserved skull with incisors, and left and right p4–m3.). Its type locality is Río Gallegos, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Río Gallegos
