Sister taxa: Pachybiotherium acclinum, Pachybiotherium minor

Type specimen: MPM-PV 1805, a mandible (right mandibular fragment with m1-2 alveoli and complete m3-4). Its type locality is Portezuelo Sumich Sur, Pinturas Fm., Lago Buenos Aires, Santa Cruz, which is in a Burdigalian terrestrial horizon in the Pinturas Formation of Argentina.
