Sister taxa: Rhombomylus nitidulus, Rhombomylus turpanensis
Type specimen: IVPP V5174, a maxilla. Its type locality is 8 km north of Lai'an, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Zhangshanji Formation of China.
Ecology: scansorial insectivore
Distribution: found only at 8 km north of Lai'an
