Sister taxon: Gondwanorthis bastamensis

Type specimen: CEGH-UNC 21674a–b, a valve (external and internal molds of dorsal valve). Its type locality is along National Road 9 near the La Caldera locality, which is in a Tremadoc transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone/shale in the Caldera Sandstone Formation of Argentina.
