Belongs to Cancellothyris according to R. S. Craig 1999
Sister taxa: Cancellothyris africana, Cancellothyris hedleyi, Cancellothyris platys
Type specimen: WAM 86.1606. Its type locality is Jupp's Bore, West Gingin, which is in a Gelasian shoreface sandstone in the Ascot Formation of Australia.
