Sister taxa: Hydromedusa maximiliani, Hydromedusa tectifera
Type specimen: MCNMP 736h, a partial shell (nuchal plate). Its type locality is Cañadon Hondo, Paso Niemann, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: amphibious piscivore

• Paleocene of Argentina (1)
