Type specimen: OU 12651, a partial skeleton (associated part skeleton with skull fragments, incomplete mandible, cervical vertebrae, ribs, synsacrum, furcula, coracoids, anterior right scapula, right humer). Its type locality is Waipara River M34/fl138, which is in a Selandian/Thanetian marine horizon in the Waipara Greensand Formation of New Zealand.
