Sister taxon: Scirrotherium hondaensis

Type specimen: CFM 2867, an osteoderm. Its type locality is San Gerardo de Limoncito, which is in a Hemphillian deltaic conglomerate in the Curré Formation of Costa Rica.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution:

• Hemphillian of Costa Rica (1 collection)

• Miocene to Pliocene of Colombia (1)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
