Type specimen: Its type locality is Chico area south of the Santa Monica Mountains (Locality 3 of Waring 1917), which is in a Cretaceous marine sandstone/shale in the Tuna Canyon Formation of California

Ecology: facultatively mobile epifaunal suspension feeder
