Sister taxa: Carpolestes dubius, Carpolestes nigridens, Carpolestes simpsoni

Type specimen: CM 89403, a mandible. Its type locality is Twelvemile Bonanza, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: arboreal herbivore

Distribution: found only at Twelvemile Bonanza
