Belongs to Hypsipetes according to J. P. Hume 2015
Sister taxa: Hypsipetes amaurotis, Hypsipetes madagascariensis, Hypsipetes olivaceus
Type specimen: FLMR 273, a partial skull. Its type locality is Caverne Bambara, Plaine Corail, Rodrigues, which is in a Holocene cave siltstone in Mauritius.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution:
• Quaternary of Mauritius (5 collections)
Total: 5 collections each including a single occurrence
