Type specimen: SAM-PK-K8305, a skeleton (skeletal aggregation containing one grown and four immature individuals). Its type locality is Beukesplaas, which is in a Capitanian floodplain mudstone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.

Distribution: found only at Beukesplaas
