Sister taxon: Pelomedusa subrufa

Type specimen: MSGN, LT Z’98 (1 to 29), a partial skeleton (partial dorsal carapace and plastron with a centrum of cervical vertebra and a partial right ilium, male.). Its type locality is Langental, which is in a Miocene terrestrial marl in Namibia.

Ecology: planktonic suspension feeder

Distribution: found only at Langental
