Type specimen: STM5-32 [same specimen no. as the Microraptor it's inside of], a partial skeleton (partial articulated skeleton preserved in the stomach of a nearly complete and fully articulated Microraptor). Its type locality is Jianchang, which is in an Aptian lacustrine sandstone/mudstone in the Jiufotang Formation of China.

Distribution: found only at Jianchang
