Type specimen: BP/1/4779, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Farm Tevrede (1077) (Upper Elliot), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial horizon in the Elliot Formation of South Africa.

Distribution: found only at Farm Tevrede (1077) (Upper Elliot)
