Sister taxon: Stomopneustes pristinus
Type specimen: IGPS 73728. Its type locality is Nishi-ura, which is in a Lutetian marine horizon in Japan.
Ecology: epifaunal grazer-deposit feeder
Distribution: found only at Nishi-ura
