Candiacervus cretensis Simonelli 1907

Mammalia - Artiodactyla - Cervidae

Lectotype, fixed by de Vos 1984, figured by Simonelli (1907: figs. 24 & 25). The precise collection of this specimen is not known as Simonelli collected these deer specimens in numerous caves along the north coast of Crete, which have yielded more specimens of this species in subsequent years. Thus, I will not make a new collection in the PBDB as most likely this would be one of the caves that are already in the database.

Alternative combinations: Anoglochis cretensis, Cervus cretensis, Megaceros cretensis

Belongs to Candiacervus according to A. A. E. van der Geer 2018
