Sister taxa: Plesiomegatherium hansmeyeri, Plesiomegatherium triangulatum

Type specimen: MLP 26-IV-10-1, a partial skull (nearly complete skull of adult or nearly adult individual, but not well preserved, and with numerous fractures; premaxillae, zygomatic arches and part of the le). Its type locality is Arroyo Chasicó, which is in a Chasicoan floodplain sandstone in the Arroyo Chasicó Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Arroyo Chasicó
