Type specimen: CPC 26404, a partial skeleton (disarticulated remains preserved as impressions in three large and 19 smaller pieces of hard sandstone (labelled a-v), including the ethmosphenoid, otoccipital ). Its type locality is Young et al 1992 Devonian Fish Locality 8, which is in a Givetian marine horizon in the Aztec Silstone Formation of Antarctica.
