Sister taxa: Rochefortia aleutica, Rochefortia dawsoni

Type specimen: LACMIP 1046, a shell (right and left valves). Its type locality is LACMIP loc. 59, Lincoln Avenue deposit, Playa del Rey, which is in a Pleistocene marginal marine sandstone in the Palos Verdes Sand Formation of California.
