Sister taxon: Goniocidaris murrayensis
Type specimen: MNHN-F-R05835, a shell. Its type locality is NNE Qarn Abu Wail, upper Dam 2, which is in a Burdigalian carbonate limestone in the Dam Formation of Qatar.
Ecology: slow-moving low-level epifaunal grazer-omnivore
Distribution: found only at NNE Qarn Abu Wail, upper Dam 2
