Sister taxon: Antilocapra americana
Type specimen: UCMP 131828, a partial skull. Its type locality is Big Break (UCMP V-87047), which is in a Pleistocene/Holocene terrestrial sandstone/sandstone in the Piper Series Sands Formation of California.
Ecology: ground dwelling browser-grazer
Distribution: found only at Big Break (UCMP V-87047)
