Sister taxa: Merothrips balticus, Merothrips dietrichi, Merothrips fritschi
Type specimen: NHMW N6974, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Ethiopian amber (NHMW collection), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Ethiopia.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Ethiopian amber (NHMW collection)
