Sister taxa: Postcopemys maxumensis, Postcopemys repenningi, Postcopemys valensis, Postcopemys vasquezi

Type specimen: IGM-4850, a tooth (isolated left m1 (Fig. 2a, recov- ered from stratigraphic level 3).). Its type locality is Lake Chapala (Blancan level), which is in a Blancan terrestrial claystone in the Chapala Formation of Mexico.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Lake Chapala (Blancan level)
