Type specimen: SHN.036, a set of postcrania (a partial postcranial skeleton preserving odontoid, atlantal intercentrum, a cervical vertebra (previously misinterpreted as the articulated axial intercentrum ). Its type locality is cliffs north of Praia de Valmitão, which is in a Kimmeridgian fluvial mudstone/sandstone in the Praia da Amoreira-Porto Novo Formation of Portugal.
