Sister taxa: Stegolophodon cautleyi, Stegolophodon primitium, Stegolophodon pseudolatidens, Stegolophodon sahabianus, Stegolophodon stegodontoides
Type specimen: tegolophodon iravaticus, a mandible (partial mandi- ble and incomplete molar of left M3). Its type locality is Kyauksaungsan locality. ~750 meters, which is in a Villafranchian terrestrial sandstone in the Irrawaddy Formation of Myanmar.
Ecology: ground dwelling grazer-browser
