Sister taxa: Metaplacenticeras californicum, Metaplacenticeras pacificum, Metaplacenticeras sanctaemonicae, Metaplacenticeras subtilistriatum
Type specimen: Its type locality is CIT loc1159, Dayton Canyon, which is in a Campanian marine siliciclastic in the Chatsworth Formation of California.
Ecology: fast-moving nektonic carnivore
Distribution: found only at CIT loc. 1159, Dayton Canyon
