Sister taxa: Theriodictis floridanus, Theriodictis platensis
Type specimen: MACN-Pv 1452, a skull. Its type locality is Tarija, which is in a Pleistocene fluvial horizon in the Tarija Formation of Bolivia.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore-omnivore
Distribution: there are no occurrences of Theriodictis tarijensis in the database
