Reptilia - Testudines - Bothremydidae
Etymology: Pleuro is Greek for side, with Chayah for turtle in the language of the Caddo, a Native American tribe that inhabited much of the Gulf Coast of North America. Species name refers to Appalachia, the region comprising eastern North America.

Type specimen: DMNH 2013-07-1782, a partial skull (a partial cranium consisting of most of the basicranium, neurocranium, right otic region, and portion of the rostrum.). Its type locality is Arlington Archosaur Site (facies A), which is in a Cenomanian delta plain siltstone/siltstone in the Lewisville Formation of Texas.
Ecology: amphibious omnivore
Distribution: found only at Arlington Archosaur Site (facies A)
