Sister taxa: Spalangiopelta darlingi, Spalangiopelta georgei
Type specimen: SMNS BB-2852, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Baltic Amber, Staatliches Museum fur Naturkunde (SMNS) collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

Distribution: found only at Baltic Amber, Staatliches Museum fur Naturkunde (SMNS) collection
