Sister taxa: Cetorhinus duponti, Cetorhinus huddlestoni, Cetorhinus maximus
Type specimen: LACM 155792, a tooth (complete adult tooth). Its type locality is LACM 7886, Beverly Beach State Park, which is in a Burdigalian coastal mudstone in the Astoria Formation of Oregon.
Ecology: fast-moving nektonic suspension feeder-carnivore
Distribution:
• Miocene of United States (8: California, Oregon collections)
Total: 8 collections each including a single occurrence
