Sister taxa: Tectus (Tectus) bomasensis, Tectus (Tectus) margaritaceus, Tectus (Tectus) mauritianus, Tectus (Tectus) texanus
Type specimen: UCMP 33414, a partial shell. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8317), which is in an Aptian shallow subtidal conglomerate in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
Ecology: epifaunal grazer
Distribution: found only at Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8317)
