Sister taxa: Nerinea (Plesioptygmatis) bosei, Nerinea (Plesioptygmatis) pseudoconvexa

Type specimen: UCMP 33614, a partial shell. Its type locality is Alisitos Fm. (UCB A-8313), which is in an Aptian reef, buildup or bioherm carbonate in the Alisitos Formation of Mexico.
