Sister taxa: Blastomeryx gemmifer, Blastomeryx vigoratus

Type specimen: No. HC142, a partial skeleton (part maxillae and upper teeth from both sides, two lower molars and parts of limbs and feet). Its type locality is American Museum-Cook Quarry, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Marsland Formation of Nebraska.
