Sister taxa: Brachyhyops neimongolensis, Brachyhyops trofimovi, Brachyhyops viensis, Brachyhyops yunnanense

Type specimen: CMNH 12048, a skull (a skull, virtually complete). Its type locality is Beaver Divide Locality 11, which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the White River Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (4: New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Wyoming collections)

Total: 4 collections each including a single occurrence
