Sister taxon: Bryanictis microlestes

Type specimen: KUVP 10301, a partial skeleton (skull fragment with right and left P2-M2, left ramus with canine alveolus and p1-m1, fragment of right ramus with p3, several vertebrae, and a few small limb fr). Its type locality is Big Pocket, which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial siltstone in the Nacimiento Formation of New Mexico.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Big Pocket
