Type specimens:

  • Dinohyus hollandi: CMNH 1594, a skeleton (complete skeleton). Its type locality is Agate Springs Quarries, which is in a Harrisonian channel sandstone in the Marsland Formation of Nebraska.
  • Daeodon minor: Amherst College Museum 31-22, a partial skeleton (pair of lower jaws, upper teeth, skull fragment, and most postcrania). Its type locality is Stenomylus Quarry, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of Nebraska.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of United States (3: California, Texas collections)

• Harrisonian of United States (3: Nebraska)

• Oligocene to Miocene of United States (1: Alabama)

Total: 7 collections each including a single occurrence
