Sister taxa: Periptychus carinidens, Periptychus coarctatus

Type specimen: USNM 16197, a maxilla (left maxillary portion with M1 and M2). Its type locality is Wagonroad Lower Horizon, which is in a Puercan terrestrial horizon in the North Horn Formation of Utah.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at Wagonroad Lower Horizon
